Event Details

August 31-October 30, 2024. On view in the Grand Hallway.

“Artists can choose to paint what is there, what ought to be there, what they see, what they feel or some combination of these elements. They often see the world differently and thus paint with arbitrary colors, lines, or shapes – whatever seems appropriate. Thus, they translate what their eyes see to create a painting.

Emotion influences the artist to apply paint and position elements in ways that are satisfying to themselves and hopefully to others. Lately, I like heavier brush strokes placed over rather delicately placed underpaintings. Usually, my paintings tell a story or originate from something memorable in my travels.

So, here hang the examples of how my artist eyes see the world and what results when I go with the emotional flow to apply the paint. Hopefully, you will enjoy these paintings that satisfy my artistic self.”
