Discovery & Exploration at Play!
Memphis Botanic Garden offers a variety of experiences for families to learn and grow with nature! Throughout the year, we offer activities for preschoolers and older children, as well as events and programs for the whole family!
Whether you’re looking for a children’s summer camp, an after-hours campfire party, or self-guided fun in the great outdoors, you’ll find plenty of ways for your family to learn and play at the Garden!
Plus don’t miss My Big Backyard, our 2.5-acre family garden designed as a place for jumping, splashing, digging, creating, daydreaming, discovering, and simply enjoying time spent outdoors. Sixteen different themed areas provide opportunities for playing in nature.
Summer Camps
Summer fun is blooming at the Garden! Our nature camps are dedicated to connecting kids with nature. These day camps for kids aged 6-15 offer a week full of nature crafts, games, and explorations led by one of our expert Garden Guides.

Caterpillar Club
Caterpillar Club offers twice-monthly fall and spring semester-long programming for toddlers and preschoolers. Parents (or grandparents, aunts, uncles, or nannies) accompany their toddler or preschooler (up to age 5) as they share stories, play games, create crafts, and explore the natural world. Caterpillar Club is one of the few preschool adventures in Memphis that gets your little one discovering nature, hands-on, in the great outdoors! Caterpillar Club offerings will be listed on our events calendar prior to each semester.
Homeschool Days
Join us for hands-on nature activities and learning that supplement your homeschool curriculum for children ages 6 and up. Homeschool Days is offered each spring & fall and includes four sessions between February & May and September & December. Homeschool Days offerings will be listed on our events calendar prior to each semester.
Homeschool groups are also welcome to book any of our youth education offerings including field trips, festivals, and outreach programs. Click to learn more.

Pack your imagination—this week we’re traveling the globe! Each day, campers “visit” a new part of the world through hands-on activities with garden exploration, games and art. No passports required—just curiosity and a sense of adventure!
Art in Nature
Ages 6-9
June 15-19, 9 am-3 pm
Each day, campers discover new plants, colors, textures, and patterns while learning how nature shapes art. Through guided walks, observation and imaginative prompts, children create their own masterpieces from watercolor and natural dyes to clay, collage, and eco-friendly crafts. Along the way, they develop curiosity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the living world.
Mythbusters
Ages 6-9

In this curiosity-powered camp, young investigators put common nature myths to the test and discover the real science behind some of the garden’s most surprising stories. Each day, campers explore different parts of the garden—digging into soil mysteries, observing pollinators up close, investigating plants and learning how animals and ecosystems really work.

This week will fly by as your camper learns about all of nature’s creatures that have wings. Bees, birds, butterflies, bats OH MY! This week we will soar into crafts, games and garden exploration all focusing on all of our winged neighbors.

Calling all problem-solvers, nature lovers, and creative thinkers! Campers will explore the incredible systems that make our planet work—and design innovative solutions to protect them. Set in the living laboratory of the botanic garden, this hands-on camp blends science, engineering, and environmental stewardship.

Adventure is closer than you think—right in our backyard and yours. At Backyard Wildlife Safari Camp, young explorers will discover the incredible creatures that live just outside their doors. From tiny insects to hopping frogs and visiting birds, campers will learn to observe, protect, and celebrate the wildlife around them.
