Leaves and flowers have an uncanny ability to remind us of people we know, places we’ve been, or traits we aspire to cultivate within ourselves. In this class, you will learn how to preserve the image of a leaf for a lifetime with certified metal clay instructor Brandy Boyd.
You’ll select a real leaf from the wide variety of leaves available at the Gardens and cover it with several layers of Fine Silver Metal Clay paste. If desired, you can also bring your own leaves from home. When the piece is fired in the kiln, the leaf will burn off, leaving behind a replica of the leaf in .999 pure Fine Silver. Brandy will also teach you all the ways to hang your piece, as well as basic metal clay handling and finishing techniques. You will leave class with a finished pendant. As most students have a necklace style they prefer to wear their pendants on, chains and leather cords will be available as an add-on purchase.
Tools will be provided for use during the class. You will need to purchase a kit containing all of the materials required to make a necklace or a pair of earrings for $45 (tax included) from the instructor at the time of the class (cash or credit card only). There will be a lunch break, so please bring your own lunch or plan to grab one from a nearby restaurant.
Members $65/Non-Members $75, plus a $63 kit fee payable to instructor at time of class
