“Inspiration for this show comes from the beauty of nature; some of these paintings will be familiar to frequent visitors of the Memphis Botanic Garden. Having been an architect for 34 years, I am naturally drawn to structures that have a particular design or detail that I want to capture on canvas. Gradations in the colors of trees, flowers, and skies also captivate me, and I work to match these in my paintings. While I have an extensive portfolio of portraits, I enjoy featuring animals: birds, cats, bunnies, and meerkats in my work. My greatest hope is that I can capture a scene that shows the glory of God’s creation in hopes that the viewer will always be captivated by the light. There will be a reception Sunday, May 15 from 3-4:30 pm in the Visitors Center and Grand Hallway.
