Artist Statement: “Through my art, I show the beauty of wildlife with a hope that the viewer appreciates these majestic animals and is inspired to help preserve the ecosystem. I used graphite and mixed media as my preferred mediums of creation.”

About the Artist: “My name is Ankur, I was born in Kanpur, India, and relocated to the US in 2016. My first experience as an artist was going to art classes with my mother as a five-year-old. Although it was my mother who attended the classes, I was inspired by the blank canvas and how you could make it your own. Intrigued by both the beauty and fragility of wildlife, I started making art that focused on animals. I am awe-struck by how beautiful and magnificent these animals are, and equally saddened by the current state of wildlife. The conservation efforts around the globe have inspired me to do my bit in trying to preserve the natural ecosystem. Working full-time as a parent, husband, and professional in the logistics industry, I always look forward to stealing those few moments to sit at my table to create art. Through practical experiences, I learned through trial and error and have tried my hand at different mediums such as graphite, acrylics, and mixed media. I have settled on mixed media as my preferred mode of creating art as I look forward to the challenges that come as a result of blending all the different mediums. Over time, I have matured as a person, and being an artist has definitely helped me do that by not only focusing on the minute details but on the bigger picture as well.”
