Event Details

July 1-August 30, on-view in Fratelli’s Cafe from 11 am-2 pm Mondays through Saturdays.

Enjoy work from Fred and David Rawlinson this summer at the Garden. After a long and successful career in graphic design, David left the world of logos and layout to follow the unpredictable journey of the brush. Living in iconic southern cities such as New Orleans, LA, Memphis, TN, Little Rock, AR, and Holly Springs, MS has shaped his style and influences. Whatever the inspiration, his paintings share  one well-defined theme: the striking beauty of contrast. The works present people, places and objects in settings of chaotic serenity. The first years of Fred’s career concentrated on medical illustration. The precise and controlled nature of this scientific speciality stirred a longing for the freedom and creativity of more personal visual expressions. By 1973, Rawlinson had committed full-time to fine art concentrating primarily on the watercolor medium. He now owns and runs a gallery/studio in Germantown which he started with his wife in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans.
