March 1-April 30
On view in Fratelli’s Cafe Monday-Saturday, from 11 am-2 pm.
Umphress has been a part of the Bartlett Art Association for several years, and has even served as President and Vice President in years past. His work has been featured in St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett Atrium Gallery, The Beverly and Sam Ross Gallery, the Ave Maria Home, Trezevant Manor, and more.
“I was born in Phenix City, Alabama, and I’ve drawn and painted since I was sixteen. I consider myself self-taught, originally working with watercolor and pen and ink throughout high school. My serious focus on my art began after a long career in banking and my retirement in 2006. I now paint in acrylic for the most part and enjoy my creative process more than ever. My subject matter varies widely…old barns, fences, beach scenes, boats, florals, still lifes…and my inspiration comes from my Southern roots…having lived all my life in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. I have a love of the nostalgic.”
