Event Details

April 2-29. On view in the Visitors Center. There will be a reception on April 14 from 2-4 pm.

From Sandra Carpenter: “The first thing that attracts my attention to a potential painting subject is how the light and shadows fall across the subject, to create color, shape, and form. My goal as an artist is to express my impression of the subject, not an exact rendering. I am a signature member of the Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Southern Watercolor Societies. The Memphis-Germantown Art League has recognized me as a Platinum Star Artist. A nationally known artist featured my painting “Flower Power,” in her book The Watercolor Course You Have Always Wanted.”

From Jim Henderson: “I enjoy creating southern landscapes found in West Tennessee and Mississippi. My paintings start with a familiar subject such as barns, farmhouses, churches, etc. The scene is designed by adding the organic shapes of trees, bushes, roads, and sky. I use watercolor and ink in my work. The colors in my landscapes are not usually realistic to nature. I have the freedom to create my own palette of colors. My use of ink is unique, I use bold and thin lines to create shapes, motion, direction, and rhythm. I hope others will find a connection between my art and memories of the past.” Jim is a Member and the Current President of the Memphis/Germantown Art League, a Member of Artists’ Link, a Signature Member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, a Signature Member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, and has his art represented by Oxford Treehouse Gallery, Oxford, MS.
