Metalsmithing Foundations with Brandy Boyd: Statement Rings

January 21, 10 am-5 pm.

Statement ring, bling ring, right-hand ring, whatever you call it, it’s the same thing, a ring that cannot be ignored! In this workshop, attendees will create a one-of-a-kind ring that is meant to turn heads. In class, you will practice bezel making, soldering premade components, texturing, ring shank making (we’ll cover a few types), sizing, fabrication techniques (focusing on the order of operations), metal finishing, and stone setting (cabochons and prong settings).

This adults-only class is suitable for beginners, and the instructor will work with you to create a piece of your own design that is within your skill level. If you are intermediate to advanced, no fear, there are things for you to learn as well! We will discuss complex shanks (such as woven), multi-stone applications, multiple component creations, and wearability concerns.
