Event Details

Reception: August 3, 3-5 pm

“Libby Anderson is a former art teacher who taught in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. She earned a BFA from Mississippi University for Women in Commercial Art along with a degree in Art Education. When living in Pennsylvania, she took multiple watercolor courses and workshops. Since then, she has traveled from California to New York to learn from oil artists that she admires such as Carol Marine, Dreama Perry, and Karen O’Neill.

Since she is no longer teaching, she has been able to devote her time to painting every day in her home studio. She is a member of local art leagues and exhibits locally. She has had several solo shows at Memphis Botanic Garden. Her paintings have found homes in all sets across the country, most European countries, and Australia.”

Artist Statement

“I have had a fascination with all things garden and nature related. My father had a green thumb, but I do not. I admire, but cannot grow. I fortunately lived near a beautiful public garden for a number of years that I could visit daily. Not only were there beautiful outdoor spaces but also indoor plants in the conservatories for year-round beauty.

Although I would define myself as a floral painter, I also enjoy painting people. It is a love of shapes and colors that defines an artist. I am blessed that I have this gift of creativity and a yearning to translate what I see into something on paper or canvas. It is very frustrating but worth it all when it turns out right.”
