Join us for hands-on learning that supplements your homeschool curriculum for ages 6+. New this season, Homeschool Days is switching to a semester format. Your registration includes all four sessions listed below.
Fall 2023 Schedule:
September 8 – Rich Soil at the Garden – Students will “dig” into the Garden’s seasonal exhibition Rich Soil at the Garden on this interactive tour while they discover their connection with art & the natural world. Students will also explore their artistic side by creating a miniature wire sculpture inspired by the exhibition.
October 13 – Tie-Dye Naturally – Let nature be your palette as you learn the age-old tradition of tie-dye. Students will learn about the many different plants that are used to create fabrics and dyes. Each student will get to tie-dye their own t-shirts using modern-day dyes. (Each student will need to provide a pre-washed, white t-shirt.).
November 10 – Recycling Made Fun – Reduce, reuse, recycle is what your students will be doing after this hands-on experience! Students will examine items that they normally throw away and use creative thinking to come up with ways to turn their trash into treasure and learn about resource conservation! Using old paper scraps, they will make their own hand-made paper creation.
December 8 – Nature’s Candy Store – Did you know chocolate, vanilla, gum, and cinnamon all come from plants? Our intrepid world explorer will excite and motivate your students with a presentation that explores the plant origins of some of their favorite sweet treats. They’ll participate in engaging experiments including making their own mint candies and sampling classroom-made chewing gum.
$60 MBG Members/$80 Non-Members. Price per child participant for the semester, which includes the four sessions listed above. Adults who accompany their child will need to pay Garden admission upon entry to the Garden.
