July 7, 7-9 pm.

Celebrate the Japanese festival, Tanabata, or Star Festival, at Memphis Botanic Garden. Learn the story of the star-crossed lovers behind this celebration and take part in traditional activities such as writing wishes on tanzaku, or colored strips of paper, and creating origami, touring the Japanese Garden, trying on samurai armor, and enjoying small bites and Japanese cocktails under the stars.

Each ticket includes admission to the event, three alcoholic beverages, and small bites.

  • Tours of the Japanese Garden with Japanese Garden Curator Robin Howell at 7:45 & 8:15 pm.
  • Koto Performance by Maika Yamaoka at 7:45 & 8:15 pm.
  • Story of Tanabata at 7:30, 8, and 8:30 pm.
