Join us the first Thursday of the month for an after-hours, 21+ walking tour of a highlighted specialty garden featuring themed cocktails. This fun, casual program will lead you from station to station to learn from staff and featured community partners about our Garden and its ties within the Memphis community. Each ticket includes two specialty cocktails or mocktails and access to the tour. Additional beverages are also available to purchase.
2025 Schedule
- July 3 – We will be covering our Urban Home Garden, which serves as a resource for home gardeners, showing best gardening practices. This area covers several topics of food gardening, including raised beds, fruit trees, home composting, beekeeping, and chicken care.
- August 7 – The kids are going back to school and it’s your turn to explore My Big Backyard! This is your opportunity to play and explore our family garden with over sixteen themed areas, each with their own story. Learn the buzz about pollinators, discover tropical treasures, and swing through the trees as you rediscover the whimsical wonders of nature.
- September 4 – Peruse our dynamic Herb Garden which includes a formal garden featuring traditional herbs arranged by usage, a woodland displaying ethnobotanical plants from around the world by country of origin, and a meadow which includes some of the more vigorous herbs. Join us in discussing both traditional and modern herbal uses in tonics, salves, and more.
- October 2 – Dare to join our special Potions and Poisons edition of Sip and Stroll. Join us on this haunted trek through the history and use of botanicals as deadly drinks and powerful tonics. This tour will take place primarily in the Herb Garden but feature plants found across the entire garden.
- November 6 – Have a toast to the trees in The Woodland, which is a representation of a temperate deciduous forest biome, specifically an Oak-Hickory forest, found across the Eastern United States. Learn about tree identification, local wildflowers, and invasive species.
This event is for adults only 21+. Advance registration is required. $30 MBG Members/$35 Non-Members per session. Click to register.
