Embark on an enriching journey into the world of native pollinators with our horticulturist Colin Rye. This session delves into the basic principles of attracting native pollinators to your garden through strategic plant selections. During the one-hour tour, you’ll learn about host plants, common varieties favored by caterpillars and butterflies, and the significance of keystone species in pollinator ecosystems. Included in the class is admission to the Memphis Botanic Garden, providing you with immersive learning opportunities alongside an hour of insightful instruction. Rain or shine, the class goes on, with indoor arrangements made in case of inclement weather. Be prepared to stand for the full hour, possibly in high temperatures, so dress appropriately and bring water to stay hydrated.

  • Entry – This class will discuss the basic principles of native pollinators and what plants will attract them in your garden. 

What to expect: 

  • This class includes a one-hour tour led by a horticulturist. 
  • This class will be discussing what host plants are, common varieties for caterpillars and butterflies, what a keystone species is, and more surrounding pollinators. 

What’s included in this class: 

  • This class includes admission to the Memphis Botanic Garden plus an hour of instruction.   

Things to know:

  • This class is rain or shine. In the event of rain, it will move indoors and cover the same material. 
  • This class will require standing for the full hour in possible high temperatures. Please dress accordingly and bring water as needed
