My Big Backyard Mosaic Magic with Kristi Duckworth

Join Memphis Botanic Garden as we liven up the patio beside the Guest House in My Big Backyard with colorful tiles. In this three-class series, you will create hand-made ceramic tiles out of clay, hand-paint them, and then become a part of MBG’s Garden art as you incorporate them into a mosaic at the Garden. You’ll also get to take home some of your own tiles to use in your own garden path or art piece.

Skill level:

• Entry – Everyone (age 5+) is welcome to join the class regardless of their skill level.

What to expect:

• During the first class, you will receive clay, stamps, cookie cutters, and inspiration to create tiles
• In the second class you will add your own artistic touch as you hand-paint (glaze) your tiles
• In the third and final class, you will receive your finished tiles and place them in mortar to help create a colorful and vibrant mosaic in My Big Backyard. You’ll even get to take some home to add to your own garden path or garden art.

What’s included in this class:

• Three sessions of instruction and participation with artist Kristi Duckworth.
• Your cost covers entry to the Memphis Botanic Garden, instruction, materials, and firing.

Things to know:

• Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
• The price includes a certain allotment of tiles for up to three people.
• Children aged 5+ are welcome with an adult helper. 

Pricing and registration deadline:

• $75 MBG Members/$85 Non-Members per family unit (up to three people, adults and children 5+); a certain amount of tiles are allotted to each family unit of three. Each additional child within the family unit is $15 per child.
